OKAY, about time I got to this one. (I’ll still take more characters!) For those who are not familiar with Rock and Rule or Mok, have his villain song, for however long I can be bothered leaving it uploaded :D.
How I FEEEEEL about this character
I have a thing for 80s to early 90s animation, something about what was popular stylewise then makes me particularly happy. Thus I like Rock and Rule and particularly Mok from a visual perspective…he’s so expressive, and the way he gestures with his hands! And his glowy first appearance—anyone want a beer?
He’s also a total creep, but that’s the point. If you’re gonna have a Mick Jagger clone rockstar for a villain, they would be lucky to have half the ego and poise of Mok. I love how his songs are all about how great he is and people eat them up anyway XD.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Mok/himself, OTP! His hots for Angel were merely wanting to use her, but Mok? Mok loves himself very much. (I suppose this counts for non-romantic too, because I can’t think of anything else!)
…though if you want crack ships, how about Mok and his computer? He’d probably be a bit cross about that lack of communicating what exactly they meant by “no one”, but maybe computer could save him from the demon dimension or something. They run off together, Mok’s empire ruined but computer still there to listen to his musical numbers and give honest feedback. They then tour the clubs and bars of Nuke York in an electronic lights show-slash-stripper act, and Mok semi-reforms into not wanting to take over the world…just plotting to have the national holiday of Nudity Day renamed Mok Day. Everyone will remember him forever, because he’s now seared into their eyeballs.
It seems a fitting legacy.
My unpopular opinion about this character
…does Rock and Rule have enough of a fandom to have unpopular opinions?
Like I said, he’s creepy. The way he treats Angel, brr. (Actually, Angel is my favorite character, in part for how she deals with Mok and takes charge rather than assuming the usual kidnapped role.) Plus throwing away the Uncle Mikey doll is just plain mean D:.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
He totally needed more glowy 80s musical numbers.
