There is no “Geno Breaker Psychosis”. MMM made it up. There is only Geno Breaker Jet.
“Geno Breaker Psychosis” isn’t even a good name. It doesn’t suit it at all, it sounds like something a teenager would make up to sound gritty and badass and grimdark; nevermind the Type B is ADORABLE with its chocobo beak and little dot eyes, which just makes the “Psychosis” moniker all the more absurd. And it elevates what’s literally just the Geno Breaker Jet with extra facial armour and a pair of switchblades to the status of a new Zoid; maybe “Type B” isn’t as “cool” but it emphasises that it’s just a varient, not a seperate Zoid.
This use to make me go “erg” too, but I think I’ve gotten over it. I think it’d also bother me less if it weren’t often considered ‘official’? I’ve been barked at by like 2-3 people in the past for calling it the Type B instead of Psychosis. Why do they even care what I call it?
That goes the other way, too. I think Psychosis sounds better than “Type B” but I don’t like the name based solely on the fact that we already have a Psycho Geno Saurer and it kinda muddies the issue.[…]
Yep, pretty much this. Use fan names, cool, I have them too, but don’t tell me I’m wrong for calling something what it’s officially named :p.
And since I played on MMM, when I see its names I think of the Zoids as they were there, which was often really different—if I read Geno Breaker Psychosis, I think the fan one with the intelligent feel what the Zoid does/oops I went berserk piloting system, not a Type B.
Psycho Geno (which I actually dislike as a name, much like I did Psychosis—it’s more fitting for Riese’s attack strategy, but wowww am I tired of mental health issues as cool/edgy name fodder) didn’t exist on MMM so no name overlap, but there was the Crystal Saurer, which while being a different Zoid used the Riesegeno’s picture, which back when translated into THIS MUST BE THE CANON NAME FOR RIESE’S ZOID. Though that seems to have fallen out of favor as a fan name, unlike Psychosis/Pierce/Hailstorm.
