Hi, I'm Tilly. I like Zoids, Pokemon, and a lot of other things involving animation, mecha, and/or monsters, so that's what you'll get here. Mostly. If you want my ramblings (on my life, gender, what have you), try my LJ. If you just want art, try my art tag. If you want my fanfic, it's on my writing site and AO3, though I'll post links to fanfic here too!
I got the image uploads to work and go in a custom directory! I’d missed one of the things that needed to be owned by web before.
I used to do fancy things to all my photos, but as evidenced by the fact these were taken with old!camera and its complete failure at anything nighttime, that leads to me sitting around on them forever. I still have unuploaded pictures back to 2004…
Zoids that look unexpectedly nice together:
Fire Fox and Siegdober. Zeekdober. Whatever. (Somewhere, German is sad.)
They’re not even the same red (Siegdober’s is more glossy and the tiniest bit more orange), and Fire Fox has dark brown, not black, but…somehow they look like they should be friends despite being very differing sorts of Empire. They’re definitely up to something.
[D-Style Bloody Death Saurer and Shield Liger snuggling. Maybe.]
Not sure if friends…or trying to eat Van.
[D-Style Shield Liger, with the last pic it sitting on a tablet playing visualizations.]
I’m annoyed this camera can’t focus as close as my old one, but on the other hand—these are unedited night shots, and they don’t look like blurry grainy miscolored ick. They’re a bit washed out, but that’s easier to fix if I feel like it :p.
I am oddly excited by purple eyes/what looks like a pale pink pilot. But but. MOTORIZED. I don’t care if it’s a windup that’s pretty much a one-speed Command Wolf with better posability, it’s still cool.
I also still want to figure out what the heck “Lukexy” is meant to be. My first suspicion is something German, given this is Zoids. ルクシー gets me Lukschy in a name dictionary, but that’s not relevant to Zoids or WWII refs that I can find. Unless it ends up being a character name? There’s also a brand(?) of lights named Luxi, so maybe it’s something from similar word roots? Luxy, or the like?
[Lots of blue Zoids Shield Ligers, mostly mini versions.]
White glue doesn’t want to stay put at all, but it gave me a good idea of how much added bulk I want for the Liger’s escaping legs, so later I’ll have to get out my clearcoat. In the meantime, lots of Shield Ligers. I should retake this in natural light (or at least more light), though then you’d be able to see how dusty most of the others are…
Old (1989) candy toy/Kabaya Liger is left out because I still need to have another go at gluing/pinning it back together, but present are newer (more like 1999 or maybe 2000—my brain still thinks that’s newer!) candy toy, blue One Blox (which also falls apart constantly because the Blox in them have crappy rubber), blinky keychain (which has long since stopped blinking), two minis (card game and old colors Shieldy), larger Mini Collection mini, blue Hasbro action figure, and of course motorized.
The perspective makes it look bigger than it is versus the motorized Liger. Seriously, it’s teeny.
This thing’s review is going to end up more “Learn From My Liger Fail”
Finished building the MSS Shield Liger, finally. Despite all my attempts to chop off its foot, put things in/on assbackwards, and otherwise fail at tiny cat, it’s together. Mostly. I appear to have the legs will not stay on issue, and I know I put the joints in the right way.
Thus, no real pictures yet, as I’m trying to bulk the pegs up. First with white glue (don’t laugh, I’ve used it before), then if that doesn’t work I’ll try fancier proper methods. I should do the same for the missile box arms, because they’re hopelessly floppy too.
I did end up having to pin the ankle joint back together, and hopefully it holds better. Thank you, tiny pin vise bit I forgot I had.
Advice you’ll probably never need but I’ll share anyway: Don’t try to cut a thick steel sewing pin with your modeling sidecutter because you’re feeling lazy/disgruntled and don’t want to hunt down the wirecutters. It will chip your sidecutter, a scissors, and a nailclippers before you give in and get the wirecutters. At least I know it’s a sturdy pin?
(These cycles look familiar- is this from the girl that does the koto videos?)
Ahhhhh I love this! I am so buying this Zoid! I will buy all the Zoids! Every single one of them!
Zooiiidddssss
Oh-ho those blades make much better sense. Deja-vu here, hahaha
Nice - hoping though that if this is going ahead, that the animation will be sped up a bit. the zoids need some weight; there’s something very uniform about the entire video
Yeah, that’s my problem with it. They have this kind of…floaty ungrounded feel. They’re more going through the motions of a run while moving forward rather than convincing me the legs are causing it, and such?
It’s awesome to see someone doing fan work end up doing official things for a franchise, though. He (pixiv and that blog have him as a dude, not a lady) has a blog entry up about the vid; if I read right he was indeed approached to do it thanks to the HMM PV he posted. So cool.
And animation gripes aside, I love the setup/progression of the fight, because ridiculous laser slicing and jumping action—honestly, give it better running/weight, and it’d be miles ahead of the boring fights in the Rayse and Brastle promos. The more animallike gestures and such are cool too. And according to that post, the Tigers are bunched up/not fighting back as well because the Foxes have used their smoke dischargers—we’re just seeing it in multi sensor vision, as it were, for the sake of it being a promo vid and not glowy blurs.
The Zoid itself I’m unsure about, because I don’t really need another Shadow Fox, but but…motorized kits. And if you preorder you get a sticker, which is obviously the most important thing.
